An ideology is a structured set of beliefs, ideas and values, that form a social and political worldview. Unlike the formal sciences with agreed upon axioms or the natural sciences that investigates the physical world, education rests more fundamentally upon ideologies. Though, that is not say that determining the direction and application of the formal and natural sciences are ideology-free. Rather, to convey that the proposal of an educational technology is never neutral but carries with it politics [[@winnerArtifactsHavePolitics1986|(Winner, 1986)]].
