Education, is not about disseminating information, but about the construction of ideas within the mind of the child. Whilst both just seem like different frames of reference, when the teacher can take the view of construction, they become less-so focused on the specific details of the utterance, or about rushing through all the slides to finish this particular lesson - but gives time, opportunities and produces an environment, within which such ideas can be constructed into models. Originally pioneered by [[Jean Piaget]], who didn't see himself as a developmental psychologist, but rather a genetic epistemologist - that is investigating the genesis of knowledge. When you frame education as supporting the child in constructing knowledge, you may lead the you to start focusing on the basis on which ideas should be formed and built. Where, rather than showing linear algebra calculations which students are taught to imitate, we aim to foster deep intuitive understanding of what the calculations represent. That is a construction, requires the building a foundation, whilst seeing education as purely dissemination means we can view it as putting information into a package and throwing it across. ![[Pasted image 20250711160520.png]]
